ABSTRACT

The principal aim of the study was to establish whether or not CGW had a positive impact on the social relationships of the children in the schools and in the classrooms that we worked in. In order to assess social relationships we felt it crucial to employ both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The qualitative assessments took the form of in-depth semi-structured interviews with the teachers and children. The children were interviewed both in their groups and individually and asked how they felt about working in CGW groups and about their relationships with other children. The teachers were asked about their feelings and attitudes towards the CGW groups; they were also asked to discuss the children in their class and talk about the relationships among them.
