ABSTRACT

The management consultant is in something of a dilemma. He is increasingly used, achieving a higher status each year, yet beset by critics and suspected of nefarious practices. The industrial relations manager is undoubtedly correct in stating his view about the need to preserve a management front after the main negotiating body and joint craft consultative committee have been approached. The company is a member of the European Consortium of Management Consultants which is a private international alliance of experienced firms offering management consulting services throughout the world. One other major development was the decision to buy the firm of John Tyzack and Partners Limited who specialize in management selection, management training, and remuneration studies as well as offering management consultancy services. Professor J. Johnston’s study of management consultancy has already shown the difficulties of assessing its value. Every firm of consultants ought to take very great care in selecting its staff.
