ABSTRACT

This book addresses the questions concerning the continued support for Faith schools within a public system of education paid for by the taxpayer. Although it is focused on the public system within England and Wales (and thus in some aspects unique to the historical development of such schools in those countries), the issues raised are by no means confined to those countries. This particular historical phenomenon, and its evolution over 200 years through critical questioning and through the development of a more secular society, raises issues of international significance.
