ABSTRACT
Imagination, contrary to the general idea, is an infinitely practical faculty. It is associated in many minds with all that is poetical, abstract, and inconsequent, though, as a matter of fact, there can be no more useful gift than an imagination that works soundly. If we were to term it a faculty of “imaging,” that is to say, of building mental pictures, we should probably realize it more truly for what it is.
