ABSTRACT

There are often strong ties between many colleges that offer game development course and the industry they are preparing their students for. Part of this is a robust system of internship. Some colleges even insist that students take a semester as an intern as part of their course qualifications. While normally reserved for seniors, the end of the third year is the time for students to start paying close attention to securing an internship. This chapter covers a range of things to do with internships: what to expect, how to apply, how to build and sharpen the portfolio, how to write application letters, and, finally, how to behave while on an internship.
