ABSTRACT

While the whole intent of this book is to help high school and college students pursue a successful career in game development, the authors did not want to suggest that employees ought to develop an insular attitude, where the employee does nothing but eat, drink, and sleep games. While a passion for making games is essential for surviving game school and the game industry after that, the authors caution that this passion may prevent the student or employee from maturing into a well-rounded person living a balanced life. This chapter is a gentle reminder to readers to get out there and enjoy the rich tapestry of life for real, not just from the comfort of a purpose-built gaming chair and console.
