As opposed to the monomaniacs examined in the preceding chapter, where we found in activity a single affective tendency to whose exclusive predominance are due both their extreme coherence and their characteristic illogicality, we have now to consider those madmen whose principal characteristic is their incoherence. We shall confine ourselves here to a very rapid investigation of the maniacs, the confused, and the dements.
