ABSTRACT
CHEMISTRY has mostly to do with transformations of matter, and Physics with transformations of energy; and the foundation-stone of them both is that in any ordinary experiment that we make, or operation that we arrange, the sum of matter and of energy is the same at the end as it was at the beginning. This is called the conservation of matter and energy.
