Before passing on to the far more varied and complex phenomena connected with “hearing” as opposed to “listening.” it is well to remind ourselves that the musical emotion described in the foregoing pages, the “just music” emotion about which “Listeners” unwillingly admit “complications,” “entanglements,” “veinings” and “streakings” with more human feelings, this in short sui generis, musical emotion is dependent upon undivided attention.
