Organizing for Social Change

The woman’s rights movement of the 1850s cannot be understood apart from the other major social reform movements of the day: the temperance, abolition, labor, health and dress reform movements as well as women’s moral reform and benevolent organizations which organized around poverty, prostitution and criminality.
