ABSTRACT
Engineers have traditionally needed to work with numbers and graphs. Prior to 1970 most of their work was done by hand, possibly with the aid of a slide rule or a computer for intensive numerical work. Worksheets were developed, calculations were performed, and graphs were drawn. As design parameters changed this process was repeated.
