ABSTRACT

The concluding section of this study reflects on the original questions and insights that guided the research. It briefly sets out the processes used and concludes that the Christian mystical tradition is capable of evolving; of engaging creatively with the lives of contemporary people; and of being transformed by, even as it transforms, lives that are whole, erotic, and queer. It considers the challenging, provocative nature of some of the frank sexual and spiritual discussions in this study and suggests that this very challenge may be essential to the expanded possibilities for new insight and wisdom that these conversations evoke. Finally, it suggests several areas that deserve further research and then, briefly, locates this whole discussion in the context of Lucan themes that embrace the witness of outsiders as crucial to the full revelation of the good news.
