ABSTRACT

6.b.1. Card, J. P. and Mitchell, J. A., The effects of nicotine administration on deciduoma induction in the rat, Biol. Reprod., 19, 326—331, 1978. Subcutaneous injection of nicotine (5.0 mg/kg twice daily) to pseudopregnant rats, reduced peak uterine responsivity to decidualization when injected on gestation days 0 to 4 or 0 to 9. Administration of nicotine on days 5 to 9 did not affect decidualization. Thus, the inhibitory effect of nicotine on uterine decidualization is greatest during the first 4 days of pseudopregnancy.
