ABSTRACT

10.a.1. Buncher, C. R., Cigarette smoking and duration of pregnancy, Am. J. Obstet. Gynecol., 103, 942—946, 1969. Women who smoke 20 cigarettes a day during pregnancy have a shorter duration of pregnancy of about 29 to 34 nr. This shortened period of gestation may account for about 10% of the decrease in birthweight of infants born to smokers.
