15.a.1. Bisdom, C. J., Alcohol en Nicotinevergiftiging bij Zuigelinger (Alcohol and nicotine poisoning in infants), Mooandscrift voor Kindergeneeskunde, 85, 332—341, 1937. Nicotine poisoning occurred in a 6-week-old infant whose mother smoked 20 cigarettes a day. Nicotine was found in the mother’s milk. Symptoms were restlessness, insomnia, vomiting, diarrhea, rapid pulse, etc. After the mother stopped nursing her infant, withdrawal symptoms appeared in the infant.
