Menstrual irregularities were more common among smokers than nonsmokers (40 vs 13%, respectively). Smokers also had a higher incidence of early menopause (20 vs. 2%, respectively). Pre-eclampsia occurred in 3.6% of smokers compared to 0.2% among nonsmokers. The incidence of spontaneous abortions among smokers was 37 vs. 15% for nonsmokers.
