ABSTRACT

AEA has been involved in aircraft crash studies for almost 10 years. Over that time techniques have been developed for both frequency assessment for any site in the UK, and to assess the consequences of aircraft crash. To take account of changes in flying activity, in terms of flying patterns, levels of usage and types of aircraft flown, aerial features databases are regularly maintained. In addition, a recent revision of the background crash rates for the UK has been carried out, and aircraft impact parameters reviewed.
