ABSTRACT

Electrophoresis is a technique that has gained impetus over the growing period of time due to its varying applications in context to different types of molecules. Following the principle of separation of the charged biomolecules under the influence of electric field, the technique has been differentiated into different types of electrophoresis to study the targeted property of the molecule. Electrophoresis has an associated advantage, as the results obtained are reproducible, the resolution can be enhanced, the size of the sample can be compromised by selecting the electrophoresis type, and the biomolecule can be procured and used for further experimentation. This chapter is an attempt to deliver the concept of the types of electrophoresis used in the field of biotechnology, biochemistry, and related domains of life sciences.
