ABSTRACT

Much has been said about participative management. Its adherents, companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Harman International Industries, Cooperativa Central, International Group Plans, and British Triumph Motorcycle, to name a few, tout it as the cure for all ills while its opponents, including General Foods, McCaysville Industries, Rushton Mining Company, and Vermont Asbestos Group, label it as an ivory tower pipe dream, unworkable in the “real world”.
