ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to determine if using a participative style of management would increase the productivity of an organization, thereby increasing its financial stability. Additionally, research was conducted to determine what demographic factors had to be present in order for an organization to use a participative style of management. Likert’s Profile of Organizational Characteristics, with a demographic survey added, was sent to all of the executives listed in the Dun & Bradstreet’s Million Dollar Directory with a self-addressed, stamped envelope for ease of return. The review of the literature in Chapter II outlined the various components of what comprised a participative style of management and how each of these components fits into the entire participative management scenario.
