ABSTRACT

Cereal grains constitute the most important class of feedstuff used to supply energy to pigs. Therefore, it is not surprising that in developed countries such as the United States, about 80% of the corn produced is used as animal feed. However, in the developing countries, most of the corn goes for human food and little is used as animal feed (Oke, 1975). As a consequence, alternative sources of energy must be developed for use in livestock production. One feedstuff that has attracted a considerable amount of attention as an energy source is cassava meal (also called manioc, tapioca and yucca).
