ABSTRACT
The coconut palm (Cocos nucifera) is widely distributed throughout the tropics. Parts of the coconut plant fulfill a multitude of functions including use as fuel and as a building material. Under village conditions, parts of the plant are used as a feed for humans. However, the primary coconut product to enter world trade is copra, its dried kernel, which is used as the raw material for coconut oil production.
