ABSTRACT

In various areas of the world, by-products of the crab fishing industry are available for use as a livestock feed. These include crab meal, crab shells, whole dehydrated blue crabs (Callinactes sapidus), Chinese crabs (Eriocheir sinensis), common crabs (Pagurus ehrenborgi) or whole fresh rock crab (Cancer irroratus) (International Network of Feed Information Centers, 1980). Primary sources for these products include both the east and west coasts of North America and many coastal areas in the Orient. At present, supply far exceeds demand.
