ABSTRACT
During the 1960s, it was postulated that the rapidly increasing world population and the increasing consumption of meat by both industrially developed and developing countries would create an ever increasing demand for quality protein materials to supplement animal diets and human food. For this reason, there was a considerable amount of activity during the 1960s and 1970s directed towards the development of supplies of single cell protein.
