ABSTRACT

Sunflower seeds (Helianthus annus) are of economic importance in some parts of the world because they are the best-adapted, high oil-protein crop available. World wide production of sunflowers has increased steadily in the past 10 to 20 years with the major sunflower producing areas being the USSR, China, Argentina, the United States and the European Economic Community (McMullen, 1985). These areas produce about 90% of the world’s production of sunflower seed.
