ABSTRACT

The common dry bean, Phaseolus vulgaris, is the legume consumed in greatest quantity around the world. It is particularly popular in Central and South America, where the dietary staples have traditionally been corn and beans (Carpenter, 1981). Cull beans are dry beans that have been damaged by either weather, abrasion, storage, mold or insects. They are no longer considered fit for human consumption. As a consequence, they occasionally find their way into the livestock feed market and may find a place in swine production.
