ABSTRACT
Each mixphase of the multiphase system subsurface is capable of storing migrants. The fundamental nonhysteretic systems state function, Equation 1.1, links the extensive state variable storage with the intensive state variables temperature, pressure, and composition, where the bracket terms in Equation 1.1b represent storage capacities. The graphic symbol of a lumped storage element is shown in Figure 1.14 and next to Equation 1.97, where the flux arrows symbolize the change of stored substance or heat.
