ABSTRACT

Bossguide is a successful and rapidly growing management consultancy firm, offering a wide range of services, including the engineering and production control aspects of technological change and manufacturing systems rationalization, other management systems such as maintenance, stock control, or accounting systems, office automation, and various elements of human resource management. Bossguide’s philosophy of consultancy emphasized a ‘practical implementation’ approach, in which consultants also took responsibility for seeing through the application of their recommendations. The company was originally founded in the USA in the 1950s, but its expansion into the UK proved so successful that the UK operation became the driving force of the group. Eventually in 1980 the UK company became independent and locally owned, in effect through a management buy-out, and the new company then bought a 50 per cent stake in the former US parent.
