ABSTRACT

This chapter covers anadiplosis, conduplicatio, and epanalepsis. Anadiplosis repeats words from the end of one clause at the beginning of the next clause. Conduplicatio repeats words from a previous sentence at the beginning of the next sentence. Epanalepsis repeats words from the beginning of a sentence at the end of the sentence. Style Check 12 discusses the definition and kinds of writing style. Define Your Terms asks students to define each of the rhetorical devices discussed in the chapter and to provide their own examples of each one. It’s in the Cloud asks students to research Longinus and not only to describe his contribution to rhetoric but to define his concept of the sublime.
