ABSTRACT

The use of mass spectrometry coupled to gas chromatography is now such an essential technique in the methodology of carbohydrate analysis that it is considered imperative to list in this volume the mass m/z charge (values) of the most important ions in the mass spectra (EI and, where possible, also CI) of the derivatives that have been used in GC-MS of sugars and methylated sugars. This section, therefore, is supplementary to Section I.I, which contains GC retention data for these derivatives.
