ABSTRACT

This chapter examines factors that the World Bank uses to describe good governance and called for an intervention by African women scholars. It explores the African feminist lens to the study conducted by Asongu and Nwachukwu. Found their model analyzing the impact of information and communications technology (ICT) on knowledge economies and good governance lacks factors that consider issues of gender equity in the definition of good governance. ICT access and knowledge diffusion must be measured in ways that consider women's access. The chapter shows that if ICT and knowledge diffusion have a positive impact on good governance then governance should be good for everyone, including women that are it should have a measureable impact on individual women's lives. It analyzes the impact of ICT on community level and national governance factors that include values of gender equity. Successfully accomplishing the "gender equality principle" is not a one-time act.
