ABSTRACT

The briefing and reviewing agendas are a means of putting into practice the Continuous Cycle skill learning process. Both the agendas and the process can be demonstrated very clearly in the case of the interpersonal competencies. The interpersonal competency cluster is second in importance only to results-orientation. For managerial briefing example, trainers have a situation involving two characters: Sam Sellars, the sales and marketing director of Enigma Products, who is briefing Viv Vendor, the sales manager. Due to pressure on costs and a declining market in South Yorkshire, sales of Enigma's products to their northern region are down. It has been decided that they need to adjust the boundaries of the regions so that midland region will take in South Yorkshire, whilst relocating the more lucrative Oxfordshire into the southern region. This reorganisation would bring South Yorkshire under the supervision of Ron, the company's most dynamic and successful regional manager.
