ABSTRACT

Comp details the upbringing that led to changing the definition of romance at a conservative Japanese mobile gaming company. Initial focus is given to explaining early life, collegiate memories, and key gaming experiences that shaped her perspective on games and the industry at large. Comp further examines the working conditions and personal-drive necessary to release content that many companies have deemed a risk, as well as the shifting atmosphere surrounding the creation and inclusion of diversity within the games she has contributed to. This chapter closes with a reflection on the state of queer content thus far, and hopes for the future.
