ABSTRACT

Isobaric Vapour-Liquid Equilibrium (VLE) data for Cyclopentylmethylether (CPME) + Acetic acid were measured at atmospheric pressure using a dynamic recirculating apparatus. The measured experimental data of the binary system was confirmed to be thermodynamically consistent according to area test of Herington and point-to-point test of Van Ness. The experimentally measured binary VLE data were correlated by Wilson, Non-Random Two Liquids (NRTL) and Universal Quasi-Chemical (UNIQUAC) activity coefficient models. The Average Absolute Deviation (AAD) of temperature is 0.2008 K, 0.1983 K, and 0.2015 K and that of vapour phase composition is 0.0033, 0.0033, and 0.0034 for Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC models respectively. The optimum binary interaction parameters (BIPs) for the system have been reported. The research findings would provide basic data for the design of separation process.
