ABSTRACT

In the dimension in which dreams operate, time and space are relativized or suspended. What to our waking consciousness appears separated in time or space may, in dreams, appear in temporal or spatial simultaneity. Events that usually follow each other — possibly in terms of cause and effect relation — may, in dreams, be presented as occurring simultaneously. On the other hand, what waking consciousness finds to be an obvious cause-effect relationship may be presented in dream mentation as a sequential one.
