ABSTRACT
By showing the impossibility of predicting the growth of knowledge, I have shown no more than the impossibility of complete prediction from within the world. This leaves the possibility open that the world, with everything in it, is completely determined if seen from without-perhaps by the Deity. The metaphysical doctrine of determinism should therefore now be considered more closely.
