Home versus School That children should be educated entirely at home is an opinion which is now obsolete, although it is implied in the works of Locke and Rousseau, and was followed in bringing up Alexander, Hannibal, and John Stuart Mill. It is, in fact, only possible as regards the rich, and on this ground alone no longer needs discussion. But the proportions which should exist between home and school, and the age at which children should begin going to school, are legitimate matters of debate.
