ABSTRACT
It has appeared from previous discussions that induction by simple enumeration is not a principle by which non-demonstrative inference can be justified. I believe, myself, that concentration on induction has very much hindered the progress of the whole inquiry into the postulates of scientific method. In this Chapter I propose to bring out one such postulate, at first in a somewhat vague form, but with increasing precision as the discussion proceeds.
