ABSTRACT

PREVIOUS PROPOSITIONS concerned the unifying functions of conflict within emerging or already existing groups, and the so-

cializing effect of conflict upon previously unrelated antagonists. The present proposition treats the unifying function of conflict from a different angle: conflict leads to the formation of associations and coalitions between previously unrelated paries. If several parties face a conlmon opponent, a unifying bond is created between them.
