ABSTRACT
—Until the present generation, there was no means of connecting the history of Iran with that of China; but thanks to the devoted labours of a handful of scholars, to whom all honour is due, it is now possible to trace to their origin some, at any rate, of the great nomadic migrations which have so profoundly affected the history of the world.
