CAREERS IN HEALTH CARE FACILITIES
Pages 16

Treatment is provided at health care facilities to people with both acute (immediate, short term) and chronic (long term, repetitive) illnesses. There are a number of types of health care facilities, and many different health care providers work in these settings. Work settings represented in this chapter include the community hospital or medical center, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, psychiatric facilities, and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAs). Other health care facilities not discussed include hospices, mental retardation facilities, single-day surgery centers, children's hospitals, and substance abuse facilities.
