ABSTRACT

Sometimes such pre-knowledge is given in the context (Explicit contextual basis, Christophersen p. 29), the thing or person is introduced to the listener or reader in some way, often by means of the indefinite article, cf above, 12.54, e. g. Once upon a time there lived an old tailor in a small village. The tailor was known all over the village as "Old Harry" (EEG 162).
