The OE. poetical sin is found corresponding to 'his' and 'her,' but only rarely referring to a plural subject, and the pronoun seems to have disappeared pretty early from ordinary conversational language. ON sinn may refer to plural as well as to singular subjects; this use is still found in Norwegian: de vaBker 8ine hwnder 'they wash their hands,' and in Swedish.
