The estimated cost of the new Surrey lines was at least £700,000. J. G. White & Company gained a £165,000 contract to build and equip 12⅞ miles, including the Brentford—Hanwell section. John Mowlem & Co. Ltd gained the Wimbledon—Tooting contract.
