Main Drainage

I have shown in the first part of this work ¹ the way in which the drainage and sewage disposal problems of the metropolis were persistently neglected until a critical stage was reached, when, after much bickering and friction, the Metropolitan Board of Works was authorised to construct and operate the main drainage system on which the capital now relies.
