II Some Universal Features of Change Efforts

This chapter examines some of the most universal features of effective change efforts, including those that take place in a classroom, therapy session, work setting, or solo adventure. It builds upon the conceptual research begun by the author over 10 years ago (Kottler, 1986; 1991). Essentially, all change efforts involve similar variables that have been identified (Asay & Lambert, 1999; Curtis & Stricker, 1991; Hubble, Duncan, & Miller, 1999; Kottler, 1991; Norcross & Goldfried, 1992; Prochaska, Norcross, and DiClemente, 1994).
