ABSTRACT
Passing reference has already been made to the psychological significance of colour. Since it plays an important part in the urban gestalt, it qualifies for separate treatment. There is a formidable body of empirical research on the subject of human response to colour (see Pickford, 1973, for a comprehensive reference list), and only the most superficial analysis is possible within such a wide context.
