ABSTRACT
Coalition networks received their first operational tests with the commencement of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan in late 2001. These networks in general worked very well, and helped the US to manage diverse coalition partners with widely varying levels of technical and professional capabilities, as well as political commitment. That said, these were highend allies. In this respect, the success of operations in Afghanistan masks a broader set of obstacles.
