Paradise Lost would appear highly incongruous. Still, he fulfilled the request and wrote a few paragraphs in which he emphasized the clinical relevance to the contemporary reader of the ambiguous figure of Lucifer, explaining just 'how and why the devil [has] got into the psychiatrist's consulting room'.
