The first debate concerns the question of whether there is objective moral truth. We shall look at three theories that defend the claim that there is moral truth; and then at three theories that deny this. We shall discuss challenges that each position faces. The second debate relates to deciding what the right thing to do is. We shall look at three theories, and then discuss how these theories approach a range of practical ethical issues. Students should be able to argue for and against the different positions in the two debates.
